History[]
Following the disbandment of BOYSGROUP in May 2023, members RYOSEi and SHUNJi decided to continue idol activities by forming a new unit. They announced the formation of Unicorn 2.0 on July 1st, with initially just the two as members, but auditions opened for more.
The meaning behind the name "Unicorn 2.0" was explained as
"The "unicorn," a legendary creature with a horn sprouting from its forehead, has long been considered a noble creature that no number of people can or should capture. It is a motif loved by many as a symbol of "sticking to oneself, fulfilling one's dreams," "overcoming difficulties, and achieving one's goals. " "The "2.0" originally meant that the software would undergo a major update, moving from "version 1" to "version 2". In analogy to this, the word "2.0" became popular to describe a paradigm shift away from legacy systems and into a new system."
Unicorn 2.0's debut performance took place at the 43rd Tatara festival on July 29th and 30th.
The completed line-up of Unicorn 2.0 was unveiled on August 14th. As well as Ryosei and Shunji, the line-up consisted of WACK Men's Joint Audition finalists, Tasuku (Tasukukusu) and Yuki (Gingin), and Kohei, Ryuto, Kazuma, and Kanta. One week later, they released their first digital single, Teppen.
Unicorn 2.0's second digital single, Charirari Rainbow, was released on October 11th. It was followed by Blue on November 22nd.
In January and March 2024, Unicorn 2.0 released the songs Zenryoku Energy and Melody respectively.
Ryuto announced his graduation on March 25th, with his final performance scheduled for sometime in mid-April.
