TEAR

TEAR are a Japanese band, who are competing as part of the BRAND-NEW BAND STORY competition. They were initially formed sometime around 2016.

History[]

2016[]

It is unknown when exactly TEAR were formed, however, their earliest online activity was in February 2016, with members Rui, Jou and Mao. Their first demo, HOME, was released on February 29th.

TEAR's second demo, OFF THE WALL, was released on August 14th.

On September 30th, TEAR went on hiatus, as Rui was to attend University in the United States.

2017-2018[]

A year after their hiatus began, TEAR announced the resumption of activities, without Mao and Jou, on September 15th, 2017. That same day, new members Nishio Shunya and Kanami joined in their place.

Nishio Shunya left TEAR on March 18th, 2018, just six months after joining. In his place, TEAR performed with support members until Ryuki permanently joined on May 17th.

2019-2020[]

TEAR released their third demo, Your Portion, on May 17th, 2019.

TEAR's fourth demo, Sleep Call, was released on July 16th, 2020.

2021-[]

TEAR's fifth EP, Honestly, was released on July 21st, 2021.

On November 9th, TEAR released the digital single, Dialogue.

During the summer of 2022, TEAR auditioned for the BRAND-NEW BAND STORY competition, and were announced as one of the first four finalists on July 1st. As part of the audition, they participated in a live performance to judge their skills on July 10th.

During the ROAD TO BRAND-NEW BAND STORY performance, it was announced that TEAR were one of four groups selected to progress to the final round.

As part of the final judging for BRAND-NEW BAND STORY, TEAR participated in a training camp taking place from July 19th to 21st.

On October 1st, TEAR announced the end of their previous "triple-vocal" structure, with only Ryuki performing vocals onward.

On February 8th, 2023, TEAR released the digital single, Retied My Shoe. It was followed by Thought on June 7th.

From July to September, TEAR released 3 consecutive monthly digital singles. The first, TyrGreen, was released on July 1st, with Azalea and Brain Wash released on August and September 1st, respectively.

2024[]

TEAR released the digital single, YELL, on January 4th. 6 days later, they released their first full-length album, Blew In Love.
