SPY (SELECT7 plus YUKi) is a shuffle group produced by AKB48 member Kashiwagi Yuki which was announced on October 8th, 2021. It consists of Kashiwagi and the top 7 members of the VOTE! WACK SELECT 7 election, which were announced on December 27th, during the Kashiwagi Yuki Nari no WACK EXHiBiTiON AND SELECT 7 event.

SPY's formation was announced upon the start of the VOTE! WACK SELECT 7 election campaign in October 2021. A name or line-up wasn't given at the time, only the information that AKB48 member, Kashiwagi Yuki, would produce a new shuffle unit within WACK, and that the line-up would consist of the top 7 WACK idols as determined by the election results.

The results of the election, and the line-up of the unit, were announced at a special event, Kashiwagi Yuki Nari no WACK EXHiBiTiON AND SELECT 7, on December 27th. Including Yuki herself, the remaining line-up consisted of GANG PARADE (at the time, split into GO TO THE BEDS and PARADISES) members, Yui Ga Dockson, Tsukino Usagi, Terashima Yuka, Yamamachi Miki and Yumeno Yua, and BiSH members, Hashiyasume Atsuko and Cent Chihiro Chittiii.

The name of the group, SPY, was announced in late March 2022, and a photoshoot was published in Weekly Young Jump to commemorate their formation. The name "SPY" is shorthand for "SELECT7 Plus Yuki". On March 24th, a digital photo book containing offshots from their Young Jump photoshoot, Watashitachi, SPY Desu!, was released.

On May 29th, a one-off TV special about the group, Kashiwagi Yuki Nari no WACK Produce! SPY Special! ~Anata wo Nerai Uchi♡~ will be broadcast on Space Shower TV.

SPY's debut single, Anata wo Nerai Uchi♡, was released on June 1st.

TV Special

  • The SPY members who are also part of GANG PARADE keep their respective member colours for SPY promotions. However, the two BiSH members have different colours to their respective BiSH ones (Hashiyasume Atsuko is purple in BiSH, blue in SPY. Cent Chihiro Chittiii is light blue in BiSH, red in SPY).
    • This is likely because Tsukino Usagi and Terashima Yuka also use purple and light blue as their respective GANG PARADE colours. As GANG PARADE incorporates member colours in their promotions a lot more heavily than BiSH (who have only used their member colours on rare occasions), it was probably deemed more important for the GANG PARADE members to keep their colours.
