PEDRO is a band fronted by BiSH member Ayuni D, formed in September 2018. They were originally active until December 2021, then restarted activities in 2023.

They were produced by WACK from 2018 to 2023. Following BiSH's disbandment and Ayuni D's withdrawal from the agency in June 2023, they have since been produced under her own company, Roman Planet Inc.

History[]

2018[]

On September 18, it was announced that BiSH member Ayuni D had launched a solo band project, named PEDRO, under Avex, BiSH's record label. Drummer Shota Mohri and Number Girl guitarist Tabuchi Hisako were added as support members, though the band primarily focused on Ayuni and was promoted as her solo project.

The same day that PEDRO's formation was announced, their debut EP, Zoozoosea, was guerilla-released in record stores and a music video for Jiritsu Shinkei Shucchouchu was uploaded. PEDRO's first solo live took place on September 25.

2019[]

During the 2019 WACK EXHiBiTiON on March 30 (of which its preceding audition camp included Ayuni D as a mentor), it was announced that PEDRO had signed to EMI records and would release their debut album, THUMB SUCKER, and hold their first live tour, DOG IN CLASSROOM TOUR, later that year.

PEDRO's official fanclub, "PEDRO EDUCATION CLUB", was launched on May 19.

THUMB SUCKER was released on August 28. For this release Ayuni composed three of the songs.

2020[]

On April 1 it was announced that tarento Inada Naoki, of the comedy act Einstein, would be replacing Ayuni D as PEDRO's vocalist. The same day, a re-recorded version of Jiritsu Shinkei Shucchouchu was released. The following day, Inada withdrew and the line-up change was confirmed as an April Fools joke.

On April 29, PEDRO's first mini-album, Shoudou Ningen Club was released. To promote the EP, all tracks were released separately as digital singles.

Super zoozoosea, a rerecording of zoozoosea included with limited editions of THUMB SUCKER, was released as a standalone digital album on March 5.

A PEDRO live tour, GO TO THE BED, was scheduled to take place in Spring 2020, however, was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. In an attempt to recoup losses, a crowdfunding campaign for a second tour, LIFE IS HARD, was held in April. It was later postponed to September.

One day after the release of Shoudou Ningen Club, PEDRO announced her debut single, Konaide World End, to be released in August. As the single's title track had been included in select copies of Shoudou Ningen Club, an online file-sharing campaign was conducted, encouraging fans who received the song to share it online ahead of the single's release.

Ayuni D released her second full-length album as PEDRO, Roman, on August 26. Its release was announced just two weeks in advance.

In early October, it was announced that PEDRO would perform at Nippon Budokan on February 13, making PEDRO the first WACK artist to achieve this long-covered goal.

On November 24, PEDRO released their first live video, Roman STUDIO LIVE, exclusively on the Universal Music Store. Shortly before its release, a second live recording, LIFE IS HARD TOUR FINAL, was announced for a general release in 2021.

2021[]

Three days before their anticipated Nippon Budokan performance, PEDRO made two notable releases; a Blu-Ray release of their LIFE IS HARD TOUR FINAL, and their second major single, Tokyo. To promote the latter, a billboard was featured above Shibuya station from January 16 to 30.

Less than a month after the release of Tokyo, PEDRO announced another digital single, Teinei na Kurashi, to be released on February 26. The track was initially a bonus included in the limited edition of the LIFE IS HARD TOUR FINAL blu-ray.

A recording of the Nippon Budokan concert, Seikatsu to Kioku, was released on July 7, alongside a documentary, SKYFISH GIRL -THE MOVIE-, and a new song, "Natsu", which was included in limited-editions of the concert. Additionally, a surprise guerilla release of a new, untitled song by Ayuni D, Mi ni Kuru no Hitori, was launched at the same time.

On August 6th, Natsu was released digitally.

On September 7th, PEDRO announced that they would go on indefinite hiatus at the end of the year, in order to enable Ayuni D to undergo a recharging period. They will hold a 14-date farewell tour, SAYONARA BABY PLANET TOUR, and conclude activities with a Yokohama Arena concert on December 22nd.

PEDRO's final album, Gojitsu Aratamete Ukagaimasu, was released with no prior announcement on November 2nd, 2021. The album was released exclusively at Tower Records on a vinyl LP costing 11,000 yen. Later that day, a general release of the album was announced for two weeks ahead, November 17th. On November 3 and 4th, a "99% off" edition of the album, a 100yen CD with sides A and B of the LP as two continuous tracks, was also released to Tower Records, with Side A also being released digitally. Side B followed on November 10th.

PEDRO's final performance, Sasurahi, took place at Yokohama Arena on December 22nd, after which they went on indefinite hiatus. Two days later, they released a book of photography from their final live, and sheet music, SKYFISH HUMAN. Finally, on December 27th, they released their final song, also called Sasurahi.

2022[]

Despite being ultimately inactive, PEDRO still continued to release material on a semi-regular basis in the year following their disbandment.

On March 30th, PEDRO released a DVD and Blu-Ray, PEDRO 1-Shuukan Toubou Seikatsu. A recording of their final live was also released via music card and livestreamed on YouTube. A home video release of their final live will also be published on May 18th, alongside a new documentary, LOVE FOR PEDRO, which covered the (apparently) final six months of activity. The following month, they released a digital photobook exclusive to fanclub members, Azen na Kurashi.

PEDRO's second digital photobook, Azen na Kurashi vol.2, was released on November 24th.

2023[]

On March 25th, PEDRO announced they would be performing one song at the band DENIMS' Ebisu Liquid Room performance of their "Sing a Simple Song" tour, marking their first performance in over a year, despite officially being on hiatus.

On April 14th, PEDRO announced that they would resume activities during RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL 2023, which will take place from August 11th to August 12th.

A day after BiSH disbanded, June 30th, PEDRO announced their full return under Ayuni D's new company, Roman Planet, announcing a re-recording album and tour that same day. The album, Gojitsu Aratamete Ukagaimashita, was released at same evening.

On August 18th, PEDRO released a re-recording of their song, Roman, as a digital single. The song was also included in CD editions of Gojitsu Aramete Ukagaimashita.

PEDRO's first studio album under Roman Planet, and their fourth overall, Omomuku Mama Ni, Iino Muku Mama Ni, was released on November 27th. As with most of their prior albums, it was released with no prior announcement.
