mayu, formerly MAYU EMPiRE, is a Japanese idol under WACK, as a member of ExWHYZ.
mayu originally joined WACK in August 2017, after being added to EMPiRE's starting line-up. She remained in the group until their disbandment in June 2022, then immediately joined ExWHYZ afterwards.

Biography[]
2017[]
From March 28th to April 2nd, 2017, mayu took part in WACK Audition Camp 2017 under the name "Pari Ubu". While she successfully completed the camp in its entirety, at the concluding WACK EXHiBiTiON, she was not chosen to debut in any group.
After the audition camp, MAYU auditioned for "Project aW", ultimately passing the audition and being revealed as a member of EMPiRE on August 23rd. Upon her debut, she began performing under the stage name, "MAYU EMPiRE".
On December 6th, MAYU EMPiRE's first recording, "EMPiRE is COMiNG", was included on the WACK shuffle album, WACK & SCRAMBLES WORKS.
2018-2019[]
MAYU EMPiRE's first album, THE EMPiRE STRiKES START!!, was released on April 11th, 2018.
In early February 2019, MAYU began writing a frequent food column for Scramble.web, where she reviewed convenience store food. On February 28th, her first single, Pierce, was released.
From March 24th to 30th, MAYU took part in the WACK AUDiTiON CAMP 2019 as a mentor.
2021[]
In mid-June, MAYU EMPiRE, along with every other active WACK member at the time, joined the shuffle unit, Dogenzaka43. Her only single as part of the group, Kyouniku Jakushoku ~Tsuyoi Yatsura wo Kucchimae~, was released on June 16th. At the end of June, her official Instagram account was launched.
Starting August 2nd, MAYU began hosting a weekly radio show, "MAYU EMPiRE no Shinya o Sanpo-bu" on InterFM.
2022[]
On May 30th, EMPiRE suddenly announced that they would disband in three days. MAYU's future with WACK was left uncertain, with details on each member's post-group activity to be determined at a later date.
Upon EMPiRE's disbandment on June 2nd, MAYU EMPRE joined a new unit, ExWHYZ, alongside the rest of the remaining members. The following midnight, she dropped the "EMPiRE" from her stage name, performing as simply "mayu" from then.
2024[]
On June 26th, ExWHYZ announced that mayu would immediately go on indefinite hiatus from all activity, due to continued poor health.
On November 19th, mayu joined ExWHYZ for a live performance following her 5 months hiatus. On the same day, she also announced her official return to ExWHYZ. She officially returned on December 8th with the group's concert in Osaka.
Personal Life[]
Growing up, mayu was a "perfectionist". She had to drop out of junior high school in her second year in order to stay at the hospital for head and body pains, where she was eventually given a letter introducing her to psychiatry. Later, she began to suffer with sleeping problems triggered by her "perfectionism", at worst, being only able to sleep for 30 minutes a night. After finding school too stressful to continue, she started working in a 7-11 store.
