MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN Nari no Gasshuku (豆柴の大群なりの合宿; Training Camp As MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN) was an audition camp held from December 11th to 14th, 2022, with the purpose of finding new members for MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN.
Held as part of the MUST CHANGE challenge, finalists had to compete for a potential place in the group; however, current MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN members, particularly those whose solo variants of the aforementioned single sold the least copies, were also required to compete in order to remain in the group.
The day before the audition camp, the results of the MUST CHANGE competition declared that Aika The Spy had sold the least copies of MUST CHANGE. However, the remaining members of the group (excluding Kaedephoenix, whose graduation had already been planned for a week later) decided to also compete in the audition camp in solidarity. As such, if any other member of MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN were to be eliminated in the audition, they would also be fired from the group. Nao Of Nao and Aika The Spy were eventually eliminated and fired, however, at the end of the camp, their roles were reinstated under the warning that they would have to improve within a year or be permanently fired.
Unlike past audition camps, the winners of the audition were not announced on the final day. Instead, the results were announced during MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN's WE MUST CHANGE TOUR finale, where the winners Reona and Momoka also made their live debut.
The audition camp was livestreamed on NicoNico. Prior to the audition, short introductory videos for each finalist were uploaded to YouTube.

Prior to the start of the audition camp, Mami withdrew due to illness. The remaining finalists and members arrived at the training facility alongside Watanabe Junnosuke and WACK staff Tsujiyama Yodai, and the camp officially began at 2pm.
In a first for WACK auditions, a physical fitness test was introduced as the first challenge that the participants would attempt. The test included basic endurance challenges such as sit-ups, push-ups, jumps, running and dodgeball.

Kuro-chan arrived at the facility at around 4.50pm, and from 5pm, interviews between Watanabe, Kuro-chan and each individual candidate were performed. Afterwards, all the current MAMESHiBA members' dinners were spiked with death sauce.
After dinner, Watanabe and Kuro-chan entered to cafeteria, and the former explained the reason of the MUST CHANGE Project, and the sudden ending of "Mametube", an ongoing series that had been uploaded to MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN's YouTube channel since their formation, but had suddenly stopped five months prior; The current members had cancelled an upcoming job that they had objected to, but did so last-minute and without consulting the appropriate parties, ultimately causing problems for staff. This incident was the tip of the iceberg, and after repeated incidents of unprofessionalism, Watanabe ultimately decided to launch MUST CHANGE in an attempt to make the members take their jobs more seriously. Kuro-chan started to cry when encouraging the MAMESHiBA members to try harder.

Original article 1, Original article 2
At 6am on the second day of the camp, all eight people who had been told they had been eliminated last night gathered in front of the lobby to bail out in the gymnasium.
They performed sit-ups during the song 'MUST CHANGE' by a large group of beanbags, and the number of people who were placed in envelopes in the order of their low number was the number of people whose elimination was confirmed.
As the music started, four candidates - Misaki, Eunhee, Haruna and Suzuno - and four members of Nao of Nao, Miyuki Angel, Aika the Spy and Hanae Monster started doing sit-ups. As the music progressed, eight of them did sit-ups, screaming in pain but not giving up.
When the sit-ups were over, Tsujiyama, the facilitator, opened the envelope and found the number "1" for the eliminated contestants: Eunhee, who had placed last in the 26th round, was eliminated. The other seven contestants made it back.
Training camp day 2: Result of the salvation sit-ups showdown[]
- Suzuno (74 times)
- Hanae (68 times)
- Miyuki (58 times)
- Haruna (39 times)
- Aika (34 times)
- Misaki (31 times)
- Nao (31 times)
- Eunhee (26 times) Dropped out
With Tsujiyama's order, the candidates started off at once. Hanae was the first to arrive at the relay point in the cold weather. There an ordeal awaited them: they had to eat up a large loaf of bread before they could run the return leg; Aika, who arrived in second place, and Ayumi, who arrived in third place, were handed Dr Pepper, which they ate and drank before being overtaken by the rest of the field. Finally, the marathon was settled in the following order.
- Kanna
- Momoka
- Miyukiangel
- Nao of Nao
- Ayumi
- Hanon
- Miyu
- Misaki
- Reona
- Aika the Spy
- Suzuno

Afterwards, they had breakfast, and then the following teams took part in the project, which did not end until they got a hit of Garigarikumi-kun ice cream.
- Team Cockroach Swarm: Momoka, Hanon, Reno, Hanae
- Team Hypersensitivity: Kanna, Miyu, Ayumi, Miyuki
- Team Vegetable Beef Sisters: Zion, Leona, Suzuno, Aika
- Team Misaki of Haruna: Haruna, Misaki, Nao
After about 30 minutes, Aika first drew the winning ticket. The two teams then set about the afternoon's task of setting up the dominoes.
Meanwhile, Team Hypersensitivity, led by Miyuki, and Team Misaki of Haruna, led by Nao, were unable to win any prizes and had to settle for lunch. Death sauce was prepared for all the candidates at lunch, and they proceeded to eat the curry in agony. Miyu, Kanna, Sion and Misaki were unable to finish it in time.
In the afternoon, each team lined up their dominoes. The two teams that hadn't hit the GariGariKun were given the rule that if they hit it in the afternoon, their negative points would be offset, so they ate their way through the cold, and as a result, all teams succeeded in pulling off a hit. The teams had an entertaining and serious time, interspersed with chance times, such as taking each other's positions with darts.
From 5pm, management and label staff met with each of the candidates individually to discuss their feelings and challenges on the second day of the camp.
The domino tally that the four teams had built up was held at 19:00. The gymnasium was divided into four blocks of dominoes, which were painstakingly lined up over a period of about half a day. It was announced that the team that knocked over the most dominoes would get the most points, and each team watched with their voices to see if they fell over safely. All three teams' dominoes fell, but only Aika's team, which had lined up the most dominoes, stopped halfway through, and the results were as follows.
- Nao (Red)
- Hanae (Green)
- Miyuki (Blue)
- Aika (Yellow)
After dinner, an 'acting & insight check' was conducted as an orientation.
One of the four teams would go out in front of everyone and eat a curry - one of the four was supposed to be a very hot curry, but the plan was to trick the other teams by reacting as if everyone had eaten a very hot curry. Conversely, the rule was explained that the other three teams would get points if they could spot who was eating the very spicy curry.
Aika the Spy Team (Team Vegetable Beef Sister) was the first team to try, and while everyone had a spicy reaction, the other three teams had to guess who was eating the very spicy curry. Aika was eating very hot, but it was Miyuki's team that was able to answer correctly.
The 'Acting & Insight Check' continued with a very exciting 'Acting & Insight Check' with different teams and contents, such as Geki Bitter Semburi Tea, Foot Pressure Points and Soupy Water. The results are as follows.
- Aika Team: 2pt
- False: 2

Remedial measures:
- Tomorrow 6:00am - Shuttle run Paper with the number of dropouts opened after the confrontation
As on the first day, all members of the beanstalk horde were eliminated. Even though there was a bail-out the next morning, it was unprecedented for the current members, who were supposed to show their backs to the candidates, to be eliminated two days in a row. Miyuki Angel approached the candidates who had also been eliminated and told them that they should have communicated with each other without more concern. However, the atmosphere was not cheerful as the four members gathered and chatted afterwards. Incidentally, tomorrow's lunchtime task will be a contrast examination. In terms of checking their variety skills, what kind of contrasts will these girls born from television show? But to do so, they will have to pass the bailout. The trials of the beanstalk hordes continue.

At 6am on the third day of the camp, all eight participants who were told they had been eliminated last night gathered in front of the lobby and went to the gymnasium for the bailout. They competed for the number of shuttle runs, and after the competition was over, the facilitator WACK Tsujiyama chose one of two envelopes, and the number of people placed in the envelope would determine who was eliminated. When the time came, four candidates - Miyu, Ayumi, Misaki and Haruna - and four members of Nao of Nao, Miyuki Angel, Aika the Spy and Hanae Monster began the shuttle run. The eight started off at a steady pace, but after 40 rounds they began to show signs of fatigue and their movements became uneven. In the end, Miyuki and Ayumi had a fierce battle, with Miyuki gaining the most number of repetitions due to her perseverance. When the shuttle run was over and the facilitator Tsujiyama opened the envelope, the number "2" was revealed: Misaki, who had finished last with 59 moves, and Miyu, who had finished second from the bottom with 62 moves, were eliminated. The other six were resurrected.

With a light sprinkling of rain, the candidates started off at once with Tsujiyama's order. Aika was the first to arrive at the relay point in the cold weather. Following yesterday, a test awaited them, as they had to eat up a large loaf of bread to be able to run the return leg. In the end, Hanae, who arrived first at the halfway point yesterday but was reduced to tears by the bread, took first place and was rewarded with a snowball's chance of victory.

The candidates and members ate breakfast, and then split into five teams to practice deciding on the composition of their comedy act in preparation for the comedy judging at 11.30am.
- Team Mame: Momoka, Rino, Miyuki
- Team Shiba: Kanna, Shion, Hanae
- Team Tai: Suzuno, Reona, Aika
- Team Gun: Hanon, Nao
- Team No: Ayumi, Haruna
After the first day, Kuro joined the camp and began meeting with the candidates and members from after 9am.
The teams were judged on the contrasts they had practised in the morning. The judge was Kuro-chan. Attention was focused on what kind of comedy the members would perform in front of Kuro-chan, a professional comedian. When Kuro-chan asked, "Who would you like to do first?" the members and candidates actively raised their hands and stood up. Seeing this, Kuro-chan happily praised the girls, saying, "Everyone has changed. Then, one by one, the girls performed a skit. Below is a synopsis of the comedy and Kuro-chan's critique of it.
Team Mame[]
- Members: Suzuno,Reona, Aika the Spy
- Synopsis: Radio gymnastics material. Suzuno and Leona, playing elderly people in tights, perform a slow and steady performance, with some movements being crazy and others not so much.
- Critique by Kuro-chan: The movements were probably those of elderly people, but it was necessary to make them a little more understandable and carefully penetrating. There was not enough explanation. Aika's role is in the form of a nyanko star, so it would have been more popular if she had done it in a more exaggerated way. It would have been nice if there had been a meaning to the tights.
Team No[]
- Members: Ayumi, Haruna
- Synopsis: Ayumi is the player and Haruna is the game character in this story based on Taiko Drum Master. In the second half, the setting takes a complete turn and the story turns to a story about a large piece of dobrokku, ending with Haruna bleeding.
- Critique by Kuro-chan: The setting is easy to understand: a master of the taiko drum. The score is low because it loses its originality when it goes to the Doburokku no Ichimotsumo. I laughed at the fact that the blood came from a different direction from where she was cut.
Team Shiba[]
- Members: Kanna, Shion
- Synopsis: Underage drinking story. Flash" by a group of bean bushes is played and a mysterious character who says that underage drinking is not allowed appears, but that character also drinks and the story goes on without a break. The story ends with the words "Underage drinking, no, absolutely no".
- Critique by Kuro-chan: Easy to understand. It is important that he says at the end, "Underage drinking, no, absolutely." TV is also appreciated when it contains information. The way he teased Nao was easy to understand and funny. I didn't understand that he was getting angry. It was good to see a different side of him, like wearing pantyhose.
Team Gun[]
- Members: Hannon, Nao of Nao
- Synopsis: Hanon, who is like a marching giant, plays the role of a muscle, and Nao is at first confused by this, but then she gets dressed in tights and dances with him, tapping on the tambourine with no expression on her face.
- Critique by Kuro-chan: I don't know if it's a joke or not, but I don't understand the meaning. I don't know if it was a joke or not, but I don't understand it. I liked that it didn't make sense. Hanon's strange movements and Nao's expressionless face. I wondered what it was but it was good.
Team Mame[]
- Members: Momoka, Rino, Miyukiangel
- Synopsis: Reno, who wants to become a fish, attends a culture school where Momoka, a fish, teaches while she and Miyuki are in a duo. He takes lessons, but Momoka is not actually a fish.
- Critique by Kuro-chan: The director thought about the setting and did something unusual, but it lost half of its fun. You might have thought it was a form of whispering landlady, deliberately speaking in the background, but I thought it was because you forgot your lines. The way I saw it as a comedy, I gave it a low score.
After everything, Kuro said: 'I gave them a superiority award, but it was important whether they broke out of their shell or not. I think we were able to show that in many ways during the judging this time, so I hope we can show more of ourselves. I think they did a good job," he summed up.
After lunch, a sports day was held in the gymnasium in the afternoon. The members of the three teams and the candidates entered the hall with their running style in line. After the athletes took the oath of office, the sports day started with preparatory exercises.
However, unlike a mere sports day, members and candidates wore swimming costumes under their gym clothes. A yakyuken system was adopted in which the losing team in each event had to take off one piece of clothing at a time. The sports day started with a message about the affinity between idols and swimwear and how essential it is for their future activities: 'Once you become an idol, you will be on the cover of magazines such as Yanjan and Yanmaga and will have more activities in swimwear'.
The participants earnestly took part in a total of 12 different competitions - giant ball rolling, jump rope, obstacle run, tug of war, ball tossing, sumo wrestling, chair-taking game, rock-paper-scissors, centipede race, dodgeball, cavalry battle, relay and various other events. The members and candidates, who were reserved at first, exposed themselves as they competed. In the end, all three groups had to wear swimming costumes, but there was no longer any of the embarrassment that had been there at the beginning.
We went straight to dinner and then to the time for the candidates to ask questions to the members of the beanstalker horde. The candidates asked the members: "What was the most difficult thing about the activities of the Mame-Shiba no Ouagu?" What do you value most in your activities? What is your favourite costume?" The members answered one by one.
At 20:00, Kuro appeared on stage again and the members and candidates were given an orientation session to see if they could make Kuro squeamish in one minute. After each person's appeal, Kuro-chan gave them points. It was particularly impressive that she gave high points to the candidates who showed the potential to come out of their shells. As a result, Rino, who Kuro feels is coming out of her shell the most, won first place. Rino was entitled to avoid being eliminated on the day.
On the third day of the camp, the Nico votes and points were announced and those who had been eliminated were announced.

Original Article 1, Original Article 2, Original Article 3
At 6am on the fourth day of the camp, all eight participants who had been told they had been eliminated last night gathered in front of the lobby and went to the gymnasium for the bailout.
They squatted until 'MUSTCHANGE' finished playing, and after the competition, the facilitator WACK Tsujiyama chose one of two envelopes, and the number of people placed in the envelopes in order of lowest number of times would determine who was eliminated.
When the time came, four candidates - Zion, Suzuno, Leona and Hanon - and four members of Nao of Nao, Miyuki Angel, Aika the Spy and Hanae Monster began squatting. The members and candidates performed the squats with spirit and perseverance, although their legs stopped moving towards the end of the song. The number of squats was as follows.
- Miyuki (278)
- Reona (222)
- Suzuno (208)
- Hanae (201)
- Nao (198)
- Aika (184)
- Hanon (114)
- Shion (108)
After the announcement of the number of squats, the facilitator Tsujiyama opened the envelope and found the number "4" for the eliminated candidates. It was decided that candidates Zion and Hanon, as well as Aika and Nao, current members of the Toujishiba horde, would be eliminated.
With stormy winds blowing, the candidates started off at once with Tsujiyama's order. Ayumi was the first to arrive at the relay point in the cold weather. A test awaited them following yesterday, and they had to eat up a large loaf of bread to be able to run the return leg. On this day, second to fourth place also had to drink a Dr Pepper to be able to run the return leg, with Momoka eventually finishing in first place.
Marathon Results[]
- Momoka
- Kanna
- Haruna
- Rino
- Miyuki
- Ayumi
- Suzuno
- Hanae
- Reona
After breakfast, the candidates and members were divided into the following two teams to work on lyrics and practice for the performance judging at noon. The task was a rearranged version of 'MUSTCHANGE'. Each team had to come up with new lyrics, add their own choreography and perform at noon.
- Team Monster: Haruna, Momoka, Ayumi, Kanna, Rino
- Team Idol: Miyuki, Hanae, Suzuno, Reona
On the fourth day of the training camp, at 12.00 pm, the performance judging took place in the studio at the facility.
The teams were divided into the following two teams and performed a rearranged version of the assigned song 'MUSTCHANGE'. In the morning, each team thought of new lyrics, added their own choreography and performed what they had practised. This was the fourth day of the camp and the first time the song and dance were judged. There was a sense of tension in the hall.
Kuro-chan's Ranking and Commentary[]
- Team Idol
- Team Monster
"Team Idol had a more desperate feeling of winning in relief this time. I could feel that feeling of being on top of the game and the feeling of passion was conveyed. I thought it was a pity that the current members didn't show the difference. I think Team Monster worked hard and thought hard since last night, but if they could have fooled us more when they made mistakes in songs, I think it would have been better if they could have sung what they were thinking at that time and connected with us."
Watanabe's Ranking and Commentary[]
- Team Monster
- Team Idol
"I thought it was great that Team Monster had a good musical score, even though no one had ever written lyrics before. Let's face the next performance too. I'm sure there are things you're worried about, but it doesn't matter if you don't show it, and it doesn't look like you're looking up unless you do it in a surprisingly upbeat way. Kanna, you say you're confident in your dancing, but I wondered if it's okay to show it that way.
Team Idol wondered what it was like for Hanae and Miyuki to make mistakes and stop from the very beginning. Leona and Suzuno were more noticeable. They might be upset, but it's not good if they don't tighten up. The lyrics also had some lax parts, like the music arrangement, so I want you to do it properly. I think Suzuno was doing her best, but she was looking down, so I want her to be conscious of looking up. Leona could also show a little more. You should do it with the feeling of eating Hanae and Miyuki. You should do it with more confidence."
Overall Staff Points[]
- Team Monster (14p)
- Team Idol (11p)
The teams and the songs for the afternoon performance judging were then announced.
- Team MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN
- Miyuki, Hanae
- Tream Fruit Brulee
- Suzuno, Kanna, Momoka
- Team Unpressable Buttons
- Ayumi, Haruna, Rino, Reona
Issued songs:
After lunch in the cafeteria, the members and candidates were divided into teams to practise for the performance judging.
From 13:30, individual interviews were held with Junnosuke Watanabe and Kuro-chan. As it was the last day of the camp, the interview was different from the previous ones, as they talked about how they absolutely had to change and why they didn't really talk about why they wanted to become idols. Many of the candidates shed tears.
Around 16:00, Kuro-chan, who had finished interviewing the members of the beanstalk horde, suggested to Watanabe that the final performance judging should be done by the four of them, including Nao and Aika, who had been eliminated this morning. Nico Nico viewers voted on whether the judging should be conducted by Hanae and Miyuki as it is now, or by the four members with the two eliminated members being brought back. After a flurry of comments for and against, the result was that the majority of the viewers agreed with the opinion of 'four', and the Tameshiba horde decided to conduct the performance judging with four members from 18:00.
They were divided into the following three teams, each of which performed 'Rocket Start' and 'Okay Sunrise'. Only the team MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN, after finishing two songs, had to perform 'Must Change' as well, at Watanabe's request, in a hurry.
Critique by Kuro-chan and Watanabe below.
Kuro-Chan[]
Team Unpressable Button[]
"It wasn't that they were bad, but they was good at being cute and cool and other rough edges were visible. I thought Reona was trying to change and had changed, and she was good at showing the cute type. Ayumi was impressive in showing her cool type."
Team Fruit Brulee[]
"I thought the formation was solid and the team was distinctive in showing emotions. I was surprised that Momoka could do not only the cute type but also the cool type better and could do both. They were good as a team."
Team MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN[]
"They showed what they could show. I thought it would be good if they used their voices a lot, but I think they showed more than just that."

"To be honest, it should have been obvious and we could have done it without changing the pretence, but we could have done a bit more if we thought we got out of it what we could have got out. We had them do 'Must Change', but I wanted them to think about why they did it now. I thought there would be some members looking at each other and probing, but they just went with it. I honestly wanted them to think a bit more about what to do."
Team Fruit Brulee[]
"I thought that both first and second place were paper-thin, but the point was based on which one stuck out more. I am glad that after the interviews, I think the three of them thought about it and changed."
Team Unpressable Button[]
"Maybe it was the idea of WACK, but it was the most disparate but the most moving. I think the seven candidates had a good few hours to see their assignments, and I also thought that they would do better if they worked out during the seven days of WACK's camp auditions. I think everyone did a great job."
They were then informed that dinner would be served at 7.00 p.m. and that the final judging would take place at 8.00 p.m. The final judging is to use three minutes to promote themselves. In approximately one hour, each person had to think about the content of their self-presentation and use their own words to present themselves.
MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN and the four-day, three-night audition camp for new members finally came down to the final performance. At the end, each person gave a three-minute speech. Both members and candidates shed tears as they spoke about their thoughts and feelings in their own way of conveying them.
When everyone had finished speaking, Kuro-chan and Junnosuke Watanabe each gave their own reflections on the camp.
- Kuro-chan: When it started, I wondered how it would turn out, but I think I was able to show something different at the first audition camp for MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN, and I think it was a success because people with room to grow came. I think that both those who were accepted and those who weren't were able to take something back home with them. I'm the one who should be thanking them. Thank you very much.
- Watanabe: This is going to be a general comment, but I was allowed to do it this time with very little involvement from the planning stage. I was allowed to do it because I wanted to see something other than the hordes of beanbags that are the new WACK winds of the team. I was allowed to do interviews and I discovered a lot of things. The auditions I do are strong style, so I have them grow through singing and dancing more and more, but this time I thought that things I thought I was playing with, such as Dominoes and skinny jeans, were changing because they resonated with various things, and I realised that there were things other than what I believed in. I was given that. I agree with Kuro, but I'm grateful. I was also really happy that there are people who love me so much. I hope that I can work with the children who are going to play with me seriously and aim for the Tokyo Dome.
Tsujiyama, who facilitated the event, then informed the audience that only those who had been eliminated from the current members would be announced about the results of this training camp. The successful candidates will be announced at the WE MUST CHANGE TOUR FiNAL to be held on 17 Dec (Sat) at Hulic Hall in Tokyo, taking into account their current self-presentations.
As it was, the audience vote and overall points were announced.

After the announcement of the description, nearly five minutes of discussion between Junnosuke Watanabe and the staff was interrupted by the announcement of the drop-outs of the current members.
In a heavy atmosphere, Watanabe announced that there were no drop-outs from the MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN members, saying: "At this stage, I will say that there are no drop-outs." However, the members were informed of the following.
"In the midst of all kinds of new challenges, there have always been a lot of things that have happened over the past year, including things that really can't be shown. I didn't think the members had changed in the last four days. To be honest, I feel sorry for the new members who are coming in. So I give them a grace period of one year (*only for current members, not for new members). I hope that you and the new members will properly become MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN. I am sorry, but this will be your last chance. I hope you will think carefully about it and do it for the sake of the new members and for the sake of MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN getting bigger."
There were no dropouts, but the four current members were given a year's grace, and told that if no change was seen, they would have to leave the group.
Kuro-chan then continued to speak harsh but loving words to the members.
"This was a wise decision by Mr Watanabe, and a year goes by so fast. The candidates said to me, 'I want to join MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN, but it's no good like that. It's no good like that and can you please stop saying Tokyo Dome? It's no good at all. You said one year, but you need to change in a month or two. The candidates were more determined in their PR and performance at the end. I saw how much the ones who were willing to die sounded. I hope the hordes of beanbags take advantage of that desperation at the right time. Prepared words don't have the same heat. I'm really grateful for the candidates, because they really helped me this time. A lot of things happened, but I really appreciate it. Thank you so much for everything right to the end."
Kuro-chan thanked everyone involved, and at the end the members and candidates gathered in front of the camera and shouted the customary words of a large group of bean bushes: "One, one, number one! and the four-day, three-night camp audition came to a close.
