WACK AUDiTiON CAMP 2021

The fifth annual WACK Audition Camp took place from March 21st to 27th, 2021.

The camp was announced on January 3rd, 2021. While the audition camp was scheduled to take place at the end of March, Watanabe Junnosuke acknowledged that plans may change depending on the state of the coronavirus outbreak at the time. On March 16th, it was announced through Nippon Radio Broadcasting's "Recommendation" program (of which Ito Musensiteebu and Chantmonkee were guests) that the camp would begin on March 21st at 14.30pm.

The first mentor confirmed for the audition camp was Coco Partin Coco, announced in late January. In late February, the remaining mentors were revealed as Miyukiangel, Lingling, Chantmonkee, Terashima Yuka and YU-Ki EMPiRE.

As with previous years, members of WAgg were encouraged to compete in the audition camp. On March 18th, it was confirmed that A Anzupia, Love, Ainastar, Tsukino Usagi and YUiNA EMPiRE would all be participating.

Day 1

The audition began at 2:30PM JST, revealed at the time to be taking place this year at the same venue which was used for the previous years Audition Camp. Around 30 minutes before the livestream began, Junnosuke Watanabe released singular images of all of this years contestants through his Twitter profile. There was a total of 20 contestants who would be taking part this year.

The first task for the contestants was a solo vocal performance. The song they would have to perform was BiS' STUPiD. It was revealed following this task that the performances were not judged and not tallied in the total point system of the audition.

After each contestant completed their solo performances , Watanabe sorted them into five groups of four. Each group were to work together to perform the vocal and choreography performance of BiSH's Orchestra. They were given a couple of hours to work together as their teams to arrange the formation of the performances between themselves.

During the period of which the teams were practicing, they were each called one-by-one for an individual interview with Watanabe in which they discussed their ambitions and were asked which group they would like to be in within WACK.

For this audition, 11 contestants in total said that they would like to join BiS. 3 contestants said they want to join BiSH. 3 members said they wanted to join GO TO THE BEDS, 2 contestants would go anywhere that Watanabe feels they fit. Nobody chose EMPiRE, PARADISES or Mameshiba no Taigun from the initial interview phase.

As scheduled at 6:30PM JST, each team took turns to perform BiSH's Orchestra. It was announced following the performance that this was also not ranked and would not be tallied under the points system for the audition. It was also announced that they would continue with their groups for the following day and will later practice for a performance of EMPiRE's Have it my way.

After the performances were completed, the contestants went for their evening meal. In the usual WACK Audition fashion, some of the meals included a hidden ingredient being the death chili sauce which is mixed into their rice. It became obvious on the livestream which meals had the deathly inclusion. All but Mononokehime Kozou were able to complete their meals in the time-limit, however seemingly no punishment was given for failing to do this.

After the meal, Watanabe had a long discussion session with with all of the contestants which concluded with a viewer voting on who their favourite members were for so far into the Audition Camp. The voting period lasted for 5 minutes, before being closed and the results were announced to the contestants. The results for the day were as follows:

Watanabe advised that the voting period would not affect the contestants continuing further into the audition since there would be nobody being removed that day. However, the team that would come last in the voting for the EMPiRE Have it my way performance would be removed from the audition as a whole. Contestants were given up until 24:00 midnight to practice before they had to go to the beds.

It was announced on the WAgg Twitter page, that the WAgg members (excluding Sayaito) would be arriving the following day.

Day 2

The day starts around 05:30am JST where the alarm rings and the contestants start to wake up and get ready for the marathon that is soon to be upon them in just an hours time.

The first morning marathon (not really marathon-size) commences at 06:30am JST as scheduled. During the marathon, three members were to drink a 500ml bottle of carbonated soda before continuing, these were picked at random at the halfway point.

After the marathon, the contestants were given the chance to further practice for the performance of EMPiRE's Have it my way which would be taking place later in the day. This was only a small period of practice since their morning meal began around 7:30am JST.

During the meal, again a few members had to endure the pain of the death chili sauce. It's also quite common for some contestants to have more to eat, but if they fail to eat during the time limit, they could be given punishment.

Following the meal, the teams continued to practice for their performance of Have it my way which would take place at 12:00PM JST. This performance would be ranked and decided by Watanabe. The team ranked the lowest would potentially be removed as a whole from the audition.

The WAggs arrived just before the performances began, introducing themselves to the contestants and joining the audience to sit and watch. The contestants were then took turns in their teams to perform.

The results for the EMPiRE have it my way routine was:

It was announced following the performances that although Team Ochinchin came last in this performance, if they were able to turn it around and come first in the next performance, they would be revived. The next performance was announced as PARADISES' Please Listen To My which would take place at 7:00PM JST.

Since the WAggs had arrived, they were placed onto the existing teams, with the below members being allocated to the following teams

Everyone had their afternoon meal, some of which again had the inclusion of the secret ingredient, Death Chili Sauce.

More individual interviews took place throughout the day with each contestant and Watanabe, in which their individual criticisms are usually discussed, plus Watanabe would give his recommondations for improvement so everyone is doing to the best of their abilities. These individual interviews also included the WAgg members.

The practices would go on until the performance later that day.

The tasked performance for Please Listen To My took place as scheduled at 7:00PM JST.

As previously stated with the results, since Team Ochinchin did not come first place in the ranking, they are seemingly at this point eliminated. Watanabe had very strong criticisms for each team and mentioned that at this point in the audition, he feels nobody could not let anybody join any WACK group. It was announced that each contestant would have 3 minutes each to appeal following their evening meal.

At this point, it is uncertain if Team Ochinchin including Koyuki Demon, Mononokehime Kozou, Sakebusake and Okita Yua would have the chance to redeem themselves in the form of a vote after the appeal, or a morning redemption task.

It was time for the evening meal, where the death chili sauce was as always on the cards.

After their meal, each contestant including the WAggs gave a short 3-minute appeal to the audience in which they pleaded why they should be kept in the audition further. This included many tears, plus a harmonica because why not?

Following the appeals, voting was opened for a short period of 3 minutes. Once voting was complete, also a poll appeared on the livestream for which WAgg was the most popular for today.

It was announced that Okita Yua, Koyuki Demon, Mononokehime Kozou and Sakebusake would be eliminated after not being able to obtain the first place in today's performance. It was also announced that Ayumi H was eliminated following the viewer polls, and Akumu Mitakana? seemingly by the decision of Watanabe.

All six of the of the eliminated contestants will be able to have a chance to revive in the morning in the task to get the most squats during BiS' A thousand crickets. The two contestants with the most amount of squats will be revived.

It was announced that the next performance will be BiS STUPiD which will be performed in new teams as below:

The teams were given aroud 2 hours until midnight after the results to practice for the performance which would likely take place at 12:00PM tomorrow. The fifth team would work for now with the smaller formation, however the eliminated contestants have been practicing the choreography alone ready to potentially fit into that team the next morning.

Day 3

The redemption task began at 6:15am JST with Okita Yua, Koyuki Demon, Mononokehime Kozou, Sakebusake, Ayumi H and Akumu Mitakana? competiting against each other to complete the most squats during a playthrough of BiS' a thousand crickets.

The results of the Squat Redemption were:-

For obtaining the first place, Okita Yua would be revived and will continue with the audition. Koyuki Demon and Sakebusake were joint second and to decide who would continue further with the audition would be decided on who is the first to complete the marathon. For the final three; Ayumi H, Mononokehime Kozou and Akumu Mitakana? would unfortunately be eliminated for placing 3rd, 4th and 5th in the redemption task.

The marathon began at 6:30am JST. Before the marathon began, Watanabe announced that the person who would place overall last would be eliminated (no mention yet of a chance to redeem).

For placing ahead, Koyuki Demon was able to be revived and would be ranked second place in the redemption task. Sakebusake unfortunately would be eliminated from the audition and would not continue any further. Okita Yua and Koyuki Demon will now join the team with Ainastar, Teratairiku Yuka and Wacki Ga Dockson to later practice for today's performance of BiS' STUPiD.

For coming last in the marathon today, even after being revived once already, Okita Yua will be eliminated again and will face a redemption task again tomorrow. This task is still to be announced.

Following the marathon, the contestants had their morning meal, consisting of plenty of death chili sauce.

After the meal, the teams split up and practiced for the performance of BiS' STUPiD which is scheduled to take place again at 12:30 PM JST, giving them around 4 hours of practice time.

The mentors arrived also so the honorary members Coco Partin Coco, Miyukiangel, Lingling, Chantmonkee, Terashima Yuka and YU-Ki EMPiRE were in the building and ready to watch the performances. Before they started, Chantmonkee spoke to the teams, seemingly to reassure them since this was a BiS song and she is the BiS mentor this year.

The next song they will perform as a team will be decided by themselves as a team, however they would need to give good reasoning why the decided to choose that song. The team that would rank last in the next performance set for 6:30PM would be eliminated from the audition, with a potential chance for revival tomorrow morning. It was announced that the leader of the losing team in the performances would have to do a solo performance of Buttocks beat beat!

After the performances were completed and teams were set-up, everyone was taken for the afternoon meal which was set-up and now maybe the newly arrived mentors would have to endure the ever so famous death chili sauce.

Following the afternoon meal, the teams got to practice on the tracks they would be performing later in the evening.

At 6:30pm, as scheduled the performances took place and each group performed the songs that they had practiced for the past 4 hours.

As such, for ranking the lowest in this performance the members of Team YU-Ki, being Love, Unko Gumi Company, Rikochi F and Haruna Space would face elimination and would have the chance to revive the following morning. As a sole punishment for the leader, YU-Ki Empire would have to perform a solo performance of Buttocks beat beat! at a time currently unconfirmed.

The evening meal was next! The four who were up for elimination were upset with the thought of being eliminated the next morning, but that doesn't stop the possibility of finding the damn death chili sauce in their rice.

After the meal, as announced by Watanabe during the practice on Twitter, an Academic Ability Test took place at 8:00pm to test the contestants general knowledge.. This was a written exam under exam-like conditions, so each contestant filled in the exam in silence for the duration. The exam finished, but no results were made available after a short while.

The contestants were then given time to get to know each other, whilst a small number of contestants were taken for individual interviews. Following this the viewer votings took place.

The redemption task for the morning will be sit-ups which will decide who will be staying, and who will be going home. The contestants taking part in the sit-up challenge are Love, Rikochi F, Unko Gumi Company, Haruna Space, Katou Musensiteebu, Wacki Ga Dockson, Koyuki Demon and Okita Yua.

Only one contestant is able to be revived tomorrow, so 7 contestants in total will be eliminated completely first thing in the morning.

New teams were announced and tomorrow's performance was announced as a double bill. The teams will be performing two songs which are BiSH's Orchestra and Mameshiba no Taigun's 豆柴の大群- お送りするのは人生劇場 both of which made appearences today with Lingling's team and Miyukiangel's team.

Again, 7 of the contestants will not continue with the audition tomorrow. Only one will be able to continue after the relief challenge of sit-ups which will begin between 6:00am and 6:15am just before the morning marathon.

Day 4

Day 4 started very harshly. 7 contestants ready at 6:00am to fight for a chance to continue in the audition camp. At 6:15am the sit-up relief challenge began which was again to BiS' a thousand crickets.

The results of the challenge were:

This would lose the chance for Love to join a group during this audition and she wil remain in WAgg. As for the contestants, they will be now sent home and will leave the audition shortly.

For gaining the most sit-ups this mornings, Koyuki Demon won the relief challenge and she will remain in the audition. She would now join Team Lingling along with Kimidoriko and Kotochan.

Around 6:30am, the morning marathon began. The results were:

Watanabe spoke to Coco Partin Coco following the marathon and advised her she had been eliminated. What the entails currently is up in the air, but it's possible she may have to face a relief challenge on the next day of some sorts. This is different however, since mentors don't face elimination. It was later announced to be a joke.

After the marathon was complete, they all went for the morning meal with side servings of death chili sauce.

After the meal was complete, the teams split up and had around 4 hours to practice their performances which would take place that afternoon which would be a double performance of BiSH's Orchestra and Mameshiba no Taigun's 豆柴の大群- お送りするのは人生劇場. This would be expected to take place late morning or early afternoon (usually 11:30/12:00) based on the previous morning performances, just before the afternoon meal would be taken.

Shortly into the practice, it was announced via the WAgg Twitter account that unfortunately A Anzupia had decided to voluntarily drop out of the audition due to worsening back pain. Team Coco would now consist of Coco Partin Coco and Ainastar.

The performances began at 12:30pm shortly after the second Nico Nico Stream link was put into place. The teams were now performing BiS' Orchestra and Mameshiba no Taigun's 豆柴の大群- お送りするのは人生劇場.

Following the announcement, each team got to work practicing for the performance which would take place in 5 hours time. During the practice period, Watanabe held individual interviews.

At 7:30pm JST, as scheduled the performances of GANG PARADE's pretty pretty good took place, with the last place as mentioned having to face the result of sudden death, so the stakes were high this time.

The original statement was however reverted and the members will have a chance to be revived in a relief challenge likely the next morning.

After the performances were done, they all went for their evening meal. Thankfully there wasn't a full time wipe-out completely, so it was a lot calmer for this meal considering there was a chance to be revived. There was still a high chance that the famous Death Chili sauce would make another appearance for this meal however.

Following the meal, the results of the exam that was done the night before were announced, which also closely followed with the viewer votes for the contestant they would like to succeed, plus the favourite overall WACK member for today.

Everyone spent the remaining two hours of time to practice for the comedy contest tomorrow. The eliminated members and Yu-ki Empire (who was yet without a team member) spent the time practicing the card game for tomorrow. They would have to go to bed around midnight.

Watanabe had a small late night session where he ate some snacks and drunk some alcohol, during this he spoke about the current contestants and how he felt they were doing, including the WAgg members participating this year. He also made a few calls on stream to discuss the audition camp, the people he called were Toggy from BiS, Naayu from WAgg (currently on leave), Yumeka Nowkana? (currently in WACK limbo) and HISASHI, a member from the band GLAY, and finally with Aina from BiSH (or now also solo work).

Day 5

The first stop of Day 4 was at the table, where the four members; Kotochan, Kimidoriko, Past Empire and Koyuki Demon were facing off in a game of Old Maid to decide who will be staying.

The morning race started shortly after the relief challenge ended! Watanabe was a bit tired (possibly hungover) this morning, so he spent some time lay on the floor before being carried out wrapped around the shoulders of his staff. Once outside, they did a fun little rendition, seeminly of the morning ring bell that would usually go off. The race began!

Once the meal was complete, the teams split up to practice their comedy performance which would be performed that afternoon at around 4 hours time. A few members of WACK staff will be taking part, including Ichayama and Doumae (who it turns out was ex-audition Paa Rui, and Monster Idol contestant Yuri).

Due to the fact that they were progressing nicely with their single tracks, Watanabe announced that he would be adding a second track to each group, so now they will be performing two songs instead.

From this, all the teams then started the practice in the remaining time for their second tracks, ready for the performances which would be expected to take place around 3 hours after the second track was added.

Amidst the training performances today, all of the members had their daily individual discussion with Watanabe in which he discusses how they have been doing so far, talks about his opinion and what he thinks they could do to improve. It also gives the members the moment to discuss the worries and try to sort them out and allows Watanabe to provide criticism which will hopefully push them onto the right path to improve and do their very best.

The performances began at 7:00pm. Following them, no ranking was made today since Watanabe mostly thought that everyone was performing well. More announcements would be made following the voting session taking place at 9:00pm.

Now it was time for the evening meal! Everyone is probably happy with not being ranked, but some members feeling they could do much better and at this point being exhaused and getting emotional. Maybe a kick of Death Chili sauce would jolt them up a little bit.

After meal was done, everyone had a lengthy discssion for a while, before the days rankings came through. Viewer votings were done again on the contestants and the WACK members overall.

This will be the third redemption challenge that Koyuki Demon has faced, and the first for all other contestants. However, many of the contestants up for elimination today have performed really well so far. There's a lot of upset in the camp following the announcements, probably the biggest hit they've been dealt with so far... but this is the WACK Audition Camp, happens every year and it's always tough.

New teams were announced following the shocking results results announcements of today. They will be tomorrow performing BiS' Primal and SAiNT SEX's WACK IS FXXK in the afternoon.

The last full day was upon us, and it started around 5:50AM with eliminated Othello, the games were:

The morning marathon began. Today it was a much shorter crowd running and the mid-race treat was a 500ml can of red bull which was very tough for them to get down first thing.

Following the marathon, everyone went for their morning meal. The eliminated members of this morning had their last meal, before they would have to leave the camp. They read comments from Nico and thanked fans sending in messages of support. There was small bouts of Death Chili Sauce going around, but that bottle will soon be sealed up until next year - not many meals to go.

Following the meal, the teams split up to practice for their performances of BiS' Primal and SAiNT SEX's WACK IS FXXK, both of which will be performed around 12:00pm after around 4 hours of practice time.

At 12:00pm as scheduled, the performances began.

All teams did a great job, however no ranking was given at this time on both tracks.

It was annnounced that the next challenge was also SAiNT SEX's WACK IS FXXK but each team would have to make their own chereography and perform it later that evening. There was a slight team change for the next performance, Ainastar would now join Team Lingling, and Chantmonkee will now join Team Coco.

There were many comments from viewers during the performances about how Watanabe is only creating drama so he can make some good content to watch for his documentary that will be released of this audition. He shut those comments down asking people that if they think that, they should leave the stream and quit watching.

After the performances, everyone went for the afternoon meal. With a big challenge coming up next, they would probably all be nervous with such a big challenge to work on next time, but they never said all of the challenges would be easy - they're really going to have to work hard to prove themselves this time! Anyway, you know the score. a bit of Death Chilii Sauce going around and some mouths on fire before they got back to work,

After the meal, everyone got back to practice in which they were creating a new chereography for SAiNT SEX's WACK IS FXXK. During the time interviews took place with the remaining contestants, however these weren't broadcasted as a backlash towards the comments claiming it was all for a documentary. Watanabe stated that the interviews were for "the documentary" because deep down he loves to troll the hate comments.

After a long period of practice, the performances took place at 7:00PM JST.

The results were... again not announced. No ranking for this performance too. They would have their evening meal now, with voting tomorrow and in that time Watanabe has a lot of thinking to do.

It was time for the evening meal, and the last evening meal they will have at the camp. All the members were mostly happy with themselves, did a great job but things could easily go downhill really fast once the results come in. With Cola already up for elimination in the morning, there was room for at least one more to be added to that list. Let's not think that was on their mind just yet though, let's just think they're hoping not to get that deadly Death Chili Sauce in their final evening meal.

After the meal, they had a bit of time before voting would usually be announced, so it was announced that they would have a ping pong tournament!

She lost, so now she is no longer Ainastar, but Unko Star for the period of one month after then being agreed upon by Watanabe.

She decided to play with Chantmonkee against him, so it was a 2v1 situation, and that also caused for Chantmonkee to become Chant Unko for the period of one month also.

After that match, Teratairiku played against Maeda, one of the staff members:

This either voided the cash prize for Teratairiku Yuka or she would win double the original amount. She lost, so should have lost everything. But Watanabe thought she was cool about it, so he figured let's just give her the original amount for being a good sport.

Playtime was over. They returned now for results and were all sitting around waiting for them to come in.

As well as no eliminations, the viewers could also vote whether to Save Cola or Eliminate Cola in a live poll on the stream. It was then decided that Cola was also saved from elimination and nobody will be facing elimination tomorrow morning.

The final challenge was decided! Everyone would now have to write a letter to themselves, which would be presented to the audience tomorrow morning for the final results announcements. This was the last test for them to complete to be able to successfully pass the WACK Audition Camp 2021.

The girls had 2 hours to start writing their letters now, with likely a small amount of time in the morning before the final results would be announced around late morning/early afternoon.

This is the moment the big things get announced.

It was announced previously in the late night phone call session with Watanabe that Naayu and Yumeka Nowkana? should arrive tomorrow for the final results also, so possibly there may be announcements regarding them too!

Day 7 / WACK EXHiBiTiON 2021

The final... morning was upon us. This day would only be a short one, starting with the marathon and after the first contest a little bit into the morning, they'll announce results and any further announcements before the event is finally over.

The morning marathon started just on time at 6:30am JST with the short collective of members kicking off for their final run of the camp. Throughout the camp, there has been the 5kg rice bag in play, this day it stepped up a notch and was a 10kg bag, which proved much more of a challenge.

The results of the final marathon were:

That was the final marathon, now it was the final meal. They all went for the morning meal and the spirits were pretty high, everyone's quite cheerful on the final day which is a good thing for the audition. It spells an actual nice year to watch-... well, we won't speak to soon. There was still room for that Death Chili sauce to be thrown around, but after this meal it was sealed up and kept in the chest until next year.

The next few hours of audition time before the final results would come in were not streamed. The cameras cut off for the last few hours and we were instead met with an ongoing collection of WACK Music Videos to keep us entertained until the letters were complete, the results were set and the deadly announcements were ready to be made.

At 12:00pm, the WACK Exhibition began.

It started with all of the mentors first saying some words, many were quite tearful at the end of the week, but it just shows everyone worked really hard and proved to themselves what they are able to do.

After the speeches, all of the remaining contestants read out their letters to themselves. This was Tsukino Usagi, Unko Star, Teratairiku Yuka, Moshimoshichan, Koyuki Demon and Cola.

After a long................ tense moment. Like forever, Watanabe finally came forward and made his announcements.

The announcements were:

• Teratairiku Yuka will join WAgg
• Moshimoshichan will join GO TO THE BEDS
• Cola will join PARADISES
• Koyuki Demon will unfortunately not join a group
• Unko Star stays in WAgg and won't get promoted
• A new group, ASP were announced. They appeared in omnious costumes sort of like plague doctors. It's not confirmed whether ASP is the actual group name, or whether it will be reveleaed in the future. ASP at this current moment in time stands for Anal Sex Penis.

The announcements were tame, a preview of a group to come and some of the great girls we've seen this week officially earning their stripes.

The total overall ranking for WACK members was:

1. Chant Unko (96 points)
2. Unko Star (75 points)
3. Coco Partin Coco (73 points)
4. Lingling (63 points)
5. Tsukino Usagi (57 points)
6. Terashima Yuka (49 points)
7. Miyukiangel (42 points)
8. Yu-ki Empire (42 points)

The total overall ranking for passing audition contestants was:

1. Moshimoshichan (122 points)
2. Teratairiku Yuka (116 points)
3. Cola (104 points)

With that, the WACK Exhbition Camp of 2021 is over.

Trivia

• This is the first ever WACK Audition Camp that Love has chosen to participate in.
• This is the first WACK Audition Camp that Sayaito has declined. She has stated that, while she wanted to participate, she was unable to this time.
• For the first time since they began participating in the audition camp, no WAgg members were chosen to debut in any of the main groups.
