2022[]
Following the end of the Project WACK-Chin Audition in late 2021, WACK CEO Watanabe Junnosuke announced the company's first ever all-male audition, in order to serve as a final test for male finalist, Tasukukusu. The outcome of this audition was left uncertain, generating speculation amongst the fanbase. The most common rumour circulated was the formation of WACK's first all-male idol group.
The first WACK Men's Joint Audition camp took place from February 24th to 27th, 2022. During the audition, Watanabe confirmed his intention to form an all-male idol group, and a number of songs composed for the unit were previewed at the camp. At the end of the camp, Watanabe selected three finalists who would join the unit; "John Gokuh", "CHiN BONBON" and "CHE JiMiNG". He also announced that additional auditions to complete the line-up would be held in the Summer.
On August 8th, a short documentary on the group's progress was published to YouTube, along with a number of additional announcements, including the date of the second audition camp, and that the group had been given the placeholder name of "WACK BOYZ". The stage names of the three founding members were also revealed: RYOSEi, SHUNJi and RiN.
The Second WACK Men's Joint Audition was held from August 18th to 21st, with the final line-up being decided. At the end of the camp, Hinata, HARU, AYURU and RYOTA were chosen, and the official WACK BOYZ twitter was launched, with the reveal that the group would be basked in Osaka.
Hinata withdrew from the unit on October 30th, in order to concentrate on school.
On December 7th, the official name of the unit was given as "BOYSGROUP", and the first official visuals since their formation were released. Two days later, their debut album and live performance, both named "We are BOYSGROUP", were also announced for early 2023. Three songs from the upcoming album, "BG", "Koiyamai" and "Zettai ni Hanasanaide", were posted to Soundcloud the same day.
2023[]
BOYGROUP's debut album, We are BOYSGROUP, was released on January 18th. Their first live performance, We are BOYSGROUP, took place the following week, on January 29th.
In late February, BOYSGROUP announced their first single and live tour, with both occurring in May.
In late April, BOYSGROUP announced that RYOSEi would go on indefinite hiatus in order to treat a panic disorder.
BOYGROUP's only single, Superhero, was released on May 10th. Two days later, the group announced that they would be disbanding on the 14th.
BOYSGROUP ultimately disbanded on May 14th, and all members left WACK at the same time.
